Pavilosta Poet Hut honorable mention- Renata Orova and Tamas Hamburger

Tamás Hamburger and Renáta Orova from Hungary

We started our architecture studies in Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2008, and we've been friends ever since. We always cooperated well together, because our skills complement each other. We are working at different architect studios, and in our free time, we wanted to have our own projects, where we can really share our ideas with each other and the world.

We are currently working at different architect studios, Tamás is working at Singer Design, where he participates in various projects, architectural and interior design, such as high-end villas and hotels all the way to the construction phase. Their team has well-invented methods, analytic and design-centered way of thinking.

Renáta works at okka studio, where, as part of smaller office team, she can be involved in diverse tasks like designing the buildings from concept plan, participating in competitions, and even creating 3D visualizations, or managing the media platforms of the company.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture defines our way of thinking in every aspect of our lives. We see buildings, public places, nature, even the people in a different angle because of our profession.

In our opinion, the architect’s role is to create the balance, to always find the best solutions for a sustainable future.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

In competitions, we have more freedom to really show our own way of thinking and our ideas. It is a perfect opportunity to let our imagination go, and to do research about cultures, architecture, materials, and so much more.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

Definitely do it! It usually takes a little more effort than just fulfilling your obligations, but you can benefit so much more regarding your various skills. It widens your perspective, and you can learn a lot about yourself and about the world.
