Delfino Siracusano, Giulia Alario and Antonino Caputo

Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.

We are three architects who share the same architectural vision, but with different backgrounds and training that complement each other. The desire to embark on this journey together emerged entirely remotely due to the distance, as each of us lives and works in different cities.

Antonino Caputo, architect, studied in Palermo and Paris, and currently collaborates with an architecture firm in Milan. Giulia Alario, architect, studied in Palermo and Madrid, and currently collaborates with an architecture firm in Mantua. Delfino Siracusano, architect, studied in Mendrisio, Switzerland, with an internship experience in Barcelona, and currently collaborates with an architecture firm in Lisbon.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

We believe that every project, regardless of its scale, has a story to tell, its own way of being in the world. This means understanding the contextual, economic, environmental, and social limits and transforming them into strengths, translating them into simple and pure forms, characterized by functional minimalism. This is the starting point that the team shares when tackling new projects and competitions. The projects we have worked on are both residential and commercial, both private and public. Our advantage is being able to draw from our different experiences to find a design approach that allows us to work in different architectural and design contexts.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Society is in constant evolution, and adapting to the new needs it imposes can often be complex. The role of the architect, therefore, is not limited to the creation of functional works but extends to the design of spaces capable of withstanding the test of time, while preserving a strong and distinctive identity.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

Participating in a competition is a way to better understand oneself and one's limits, confront others, and expand one's knowledge. It should be approached with curiosity, the will to surpass oneself, and the desire to surprise.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

Competitions are an opportunity to push beyond one's limits and expand creativity. This allows one to improve oneself and carry with them a cultural baggage that goes beyond the result. Do it!
