We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the one of the three Competition joint-winners of our "Norman Foster Foundation Kharkiv Freedom Square Revival " competition – Daniel Mintz from Israel!

Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.

Mintz Melamed Architects was established in 2007. Currently working in full partnership with arch. Daphne Laura Dagan and arch. Yossi Hayu (M+JL architects) - based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

In response to the challenge posed by the competition a collaboration was formed with Marina Epstein-Pliouchtch Architect and Town planner, BEA Architects @ Town Planners.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

Projects:

- International School for holocaust studies, client: Holocaust ‘Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Authority ', Location: Yad Vashem, Jerusalem. Area 10,000 sqm, year: 2010

- Geological Survey Israel, client: Government Housing Administration, Location: Givat Ram, Jerusalem, Area: 20,000 sqm, Year:2020

- Anu Museum, Client: Museum of the Jewish People, Location: Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv Area: 7,000 sqm, Year:2021

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Three conceptual constellations encompass our work as architects: Memory - Tectonic - Infrastructure, inhabit our imaginary sky in constant fluctuation and change. They are structured and restructured through archaic underlying motifs: natural-synthetic; replication - imagenation; stability-vulnerability. The presented project illustrates the variation within the constellations, tracing the path towards architectural polyphony.
