Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.

We are a team of four students from the Bachelor of Architectural Studies program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Currently in our fourth year at the School of Architecture, we are actively participating in architectural design competitions.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

As part of our undergraduate curriculum, we have design experiences in various architecture types, including pavilion, community centre, and large-scale social housing projects. These projects allowed us to develop design skills and explore different aspects of architecture.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

To us, architecture is a powerful tool that shapes lives and serves as a record of human civilization. Architects play a crucial role in creating spaces that enhance the human experience and contribute to the betterment of society.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

We decided to participate in this competition to challenge ourselves and explore new ideas in a collaborative setting. Working as a team allows us to learn from each other's perspectives and strengthen our bonds. Moreover, this idea competition encourages us to think outside the box and showcase our creativity without the constraints of practical considerations.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

We would encourage anyone interested in architecture to participate in competitions, as they offer valuable learning experiences and opportunities for growth. Even if you are unsure, give it a try - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Competitions are a great way to experiment with ideas, work with like-minded individuals, and push the boundaries of your creativity.
