We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the 3rd and Sustainability winner of our "Museum of Emotions / Edition #2" competition – James Li from Australia!

James Li from Australia

I am currently a year 3 undergraduate student in China, majoring in architecture. I was in Sydney as an exchange student while I was designing this project.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

While I am still a student exploring all kinds of architectural designs, I am currently interested in landscape architecture and designing for underrepresented people.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture for me is a way to improve the lives of people and express the way humans connect with others as well as with nature.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

I believe participating in architecture competitions is a way for me to do more innovative thinking and get out from my comfort zone. It is challenging and fun at the same time.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

I think maybe just follow your guts. If you see a competition that you are really interested, just do it. There is no harm really.
