Design a memorial that speaks to the cause of ending all nuclear weapons programs
We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winners for our “Mega Dunes Eco Lodges” competition – Brandon Haarer, Fiorela Lesaj, Adam Dean and Solomon Reynolds from the United States!
Team from Lawrence Technological University
The team is from Ecological Issues, a graduate course at Lawrence Technological University (LTU). The course is an investigation of ecology and ecological systems in specific relation to design and the built environment, focusing on ecological design principles and standards, ecological technology and methods, and ecological practice.
Architects have the opportunity to improve the well-being of communities and to establish better living situations for all. They have a social responsibility to initiate awareness of issues within our society.
In recent years at LTU, many design courses provide projects that are based off of real time competitions. Though the outcome of the course is not to submit for the competition, it’s really great because it gives students the opportunity to participate if they wish.
Entering design competitions can help students exercise their creativity outside of their studio atmosphere. It gives an opportunity for individuals to explore their interests and passions that they may not have been able to pursue in their education.
