We are Environmental Design students at the University of Manitoba, currently in our 4th year. The program prioritizes thought processes over the final outcome, and encourages sustainability in our designs.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?

We participated in the proposal for the Warming Hut 2020- an annual shelter design competition, held in Winnipeg, Canada. “​Cloud of Unintended Consequences” is a collaboration between internationally renowned Winnipeg artist Eleanor Bond and third-year students from the Department of Architecture, University of Manitoba. In her work, Bond has a particular interest in the built environment and the interpretation of public space.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Collectively, we believe that architecture should ​demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of the built environment and associated ecological, economic, physical and social well-being of the global community.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

We believe in the importance of competition in the field of architecture to push beyond boundaries of creativity; and architecture vision competitions provide a platform to achieve these goals.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

The penultimate goal of course is to win the competition; however, learning and experience should be the forefront expectation. Trust the process and the rewards will follow.
