Arseniy Rabotnov from Russian Federation
Arseniy Rabotnov & Partners was founded in 2020, in Moscow. This young studio, at the beginning of its formation, so far has only one director and invited specialists. The main focus of the work is architectural design and consulting in the field of architecture. Prior to the studio, I collaborated with the ARUP Moscow office as an architect for several years. As a team, we have worked on projects of various sizes, urban planning projects, renovation projects and high-tech projects in Russia and globally.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/individuals have been involved?
At the moment, the studio is working on several projects of various sizes, mainly with a historical context, providing support in the architectural design of residential and public buildings. All projects are in the design and construction stge. As part of the ARUP team, we have designed and completed the reconstruction of a music school near Vienna, Austria, a historic estate of the early 20th century with the adjacent territory, and the arrangement of a campus for students, as well as several phases of the IXC data center in Moscow. We also took part in the construction of the Daimler Mercedes-Benz car plant near Moscow which was successfully completed.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is light and shadow, with the help of proportions subordinate to logic, serving society, nature and harmony. I think the role of an architect cannot be underestimated for each country and city. These people have the knowledge of the past working for future generations. They create a surrounding landscape. I would say that I have a lot of respect for my colleagues in the profession.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
In my opinion, it is always very important for an architect to look for solutions to new problems of different scales. Look for your own approach and carefully study the context, delicately add new objects, woven into the prevailing culture and locality.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
Looking back at the numerous competitions you have participated in, you are just beginning to better understand yourself as a professional and find your own vision of architecture and design. I believe that this is an important part of the development of every architect.
