2nd prize winners from Uruguay
We are a mixed group of recently graduated architects and close to graduating students from Universidad de la República in Uruguay, making its first steps as an architecture studio.
As individuals, we have different experiences as a product of our everyday work in different architectural firms. As a group, we have participated in several architecture competitions.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
We understand architecture as a frame in which our everyday life develops. The role of the architect is to come up with ideas that go beyond the built object. It is the continuous search for solutions that can enhance the experience of the users.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Architecture vision competitions give us an excuse and an opportunity to explore different ideas and concepts that we can later incorporate in our everyday practice.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
It is important as a fertile ground in which to test new concepts and ideas. As well as having the opportunity to share these with people from different cultural backgrounds and architectural ways of thinking. It's always a positive and enriching experience regardless of the outcome.
