archicraft was founded in 2008 in Prague, Czech Republic by co-founders Miroslav and Jan Tomas, and their  US partner Marija who resides in Los Angeles, USA. Their team consists of 12 architects, designers and engineers who focus on smaller scale architecture, interior design and product design.

We specialize in residential projects and retail projects, mainly restaurants. In the commercial sector we have designed many office interiors, while in the public sector we like to work with municipalities on smaller scale public buildings.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is a lifestyle. An architect is obliged to provide insights and input for the whole society and environment with respect to every part of it. We are still finding our role in society, but we want to be a part of the movement to harmonize it.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

As most of our works are built, the focus is on the functionality of the execution, rather than the vision. In our day-to-day practice, we miss having the freedom to have a complete control over the vision. Competitions are a chance to show that we care about it and we want to show what our vision is.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

If you have dreams, don’t hesitate to make time in your schedule to make them come true.
