Agnieszka Baszak, Paweł Danielak and Bartłomiej Bruzda from Poland
We are architecture students in the final year of studies. We met almost 5 years ago and since then we have been trying to actively participate in architectural competitions. Each of us contributes different, complementary skills to the group, depending on individual aesthetic perceptions.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?
In the selection of design competitions we focus on original topics that induce social problems. Depending on how interesting the topic is, we are able to adapt to any location, exploring the context of the place we are interested in. So far, however, we've focused on local competitions, on a city and country scale, small landscape elements as well as urban plans.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is persistence in designing the surrounding space and constantly improving it. It’s a balance between futuristic visions and identity of a place. Every definition of architecture embraces the concept of man, because the role of an architect is to respect the past and create the future, considering how an object impacts the everyday life of society.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Competitions like this spark our imagination and creativity as well as create opportunities to tackle original topics that go beyond university standards. They give a chance to face actual problems of places that we didn’t know earlier, broadening our horizons in the process.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
Do not overthink :)
