Founded in 2011 by the architect Marcelo Moura, Tripper arquitetura is a Rio de Janeiro-based office with residential and commercial projects all over Brasil.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?
Nowadays, we are focused on residential architecture, mostly houses, with projects in Brazil, Portugal and the United States.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is important in every scale of the society. From the design of the interior of a house to the master plan of the city. It touches and influences us in every step, every action we take on a daily basis. We have to think of the human as an individual and as part of society.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
It’s a chance to do different projects from what we are used to, and to be able to build our architecture in different cities and countries. Also, the media generated around the project is very important to the office’s growth.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
The competition is the chance you have to show the world your architecture, your work. The biggest offices in the world started their growth by winning important competitions and seeing their work being published.
