We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the Green Award winners of our “Iceland Thermal Springs Guest House” competition - Sergi Viñals Musquera and Anna Mirapeix Gresa from Spain!
Sergi Viñals and Anna Mirapeix from Spain
We are two young architects based in Barcelona and Andorra, both with our own architectural firms founded in 2017. We collaborate throughout some projects with the aim to confront and enrich our proposals. Our studios do not distinguish between architecture, art, graphic design, landscape and urban planning or any other disciplines. On the contrary, our aim is to intervene thoughtfully and specifically in each context; being subject to the needs, historic and social environmental background of each place and circumstance.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
We certainly do not have an answer for that, yet. And although we could have some ideas on which direction it might be answered, we believe our perception of architecture, and how we can impact our society, will be changed and constantly redefined throughout the years.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Competitions allow us to develop a collective thinking and re-question the boundaries of the discipline.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
Competitions with unusual and interesting topics force you to think outside the box, a great opportunity to explore highly creative ideas without constraints.
