I am a Part 1 student of Architecture from the Mackintosh School of Architecture (Glasgow School of Art). I’ve been working in a practice for four years while studying.
This is the first competition I’ve fully committed to. I currently work in a practice and have been involved in a number of interesting educational projects including contributing to the Scotland/ Venice exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
I enjoy the process of designing at all scales and making diagrams and visualisations which clearly communicate conceptual ideas. I believe that the role of the architect is increasingly being undermined, affecting society on a cultural level.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Architecture competitions offer a chance at some kind of success but also help bolster my portfolio and keep me stimulated. I like to believe they improve my employability.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
