We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the winner of the Honorable mention of our “Amber Road Trekking Cabin” competition - Malin Persson from Sweden!
Malin Persson from Sweden
MAP was founded 2013 and is currently based in Stockholm. It is a one woman company.
MAP is working with all sorts of projects. From big scale projects like larger store facilities and shopping centers, to smaller projects like private homes with a high level of detailing. I prefer small projects with simple programs which are set in great landscape settings. Especially if it has to do with the mountains. MAP is currently involved in numerous projects for the Swedish Tourist Association. An organisation dedicated to creating access to the Swedish wilderness for the general public.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture for me is to create space based on strong ideas, where fantasy is given room within everyday life. The role of the architect in Sweden has been diminished and with it the quality of space in general.
Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?
Competitions are usually a great opportunity to develop new ideas, to dream big or small, and to develop yourself as an architect.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
I see it as education.
