Archway Homes Blending Brickwork and Vineyards in Italian Landscape

Project in-detail

Set against the backdrop of Mount Subasio, the residential units feature arch openings and communal spaces integrated with local vineyards, providing inviting living environments that celebrate the region’s heritage.
5 key facts about this project
01
Designed to maximize views of Mount Subasio and historic landmarks.
02
Arch openings create a visual connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
03
First-floor terraces extend living areas into the surrounding landscape.
04
Shared amenities include wine-tasting facilities to foster community.
05

The setting blends the natural beauty of Mount Subasio with the historic essence of Assisi and Spello. The design aims to create a close connection between buildings and the surrounding landscape. It enhances views of these important landmarks while ensuring that the living spaces remain practical and inviting.

Residential Units

Each residential unit makes the most of the flat terrain, carefully positioned to offer expansive views from key interior spaces. First-floor terraces play a central role in the design, bringing outdoor space into the daily life of the occupants. This arrangement encourages interaction with the landscape and allows for enjoyment of the scenic backdrops.

Architectural Expression

The design takes cues from local architecture, incorporating traditional features that mirror the regional style. Arch openings are particularly notable, creating a link between interior and exterior spaces. This design choice adds to the aesthetic appeal while enhancing the functionality of the units, ensuring they feel connected to the historical context of the area.

Communal Spaces

Shared spaces are an important part of the overall layout. Wine-tasting facilities are integrated into the design, offering a place for residents to gather and connect. Outdoor decks and seating areas are included to encourage social interaction, while a water feature contributes to a calming atmosphere. These elements work together to create a sense of community among the residents.

Materiality

The choice of materials is key in maintaining a local connection. Brickwork and stone are used throughout, reflecting traditional craftsmanship and reinforcing the sense of place. The careful selection of these materials aligns the project with the architectural heritage of the region. Arch openings complement the use of these materials, preserving a harmonious relationship with the surroundings.

Attention to detail is evident in the design, where terraced gardens enhance privacy while visually linking the built environment to the natural landscape. This thoughtful approach creates a character that respects both the architecture and the richness of the environment.
