We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce the 2nd prize winners of our Casablanca Bombing Rooms competition - Iryna Safonova and Laurène Mousnier from China!

Iryna. I am 31 years old and I’m from Ukraine. I have a Master's Degree in Architecture from Kiev National Aviation University and a Master's Degree in Design and Art from the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture. After graduating I worked in several architectural companies in Ukraine and Germany.
Laurène. I am 25 years old and I’m from France. I graduated from Saint Luc de Tournai, Architecture school UCL in Belgium last year.

Passion for Architecture and good job opportunities brought us to China where we met each other in an established Chinese architecture company.
We believe that our different cultural and academic background is an advantage for our team and helps us to take design challenges from the new point of view

We work in an architectural company which specialises on a large scale architectural projects and urban planning. We take great interest in the problem of Chinese generic cities, mass tourism and leisure architecture.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

Architecture is a material world created by people. It reflects who we are, what our ideals are and in what we believe. It is culture and memory reflected in structures. That is why the topic of the Bombing rooms competition caught our attention from the very beginning.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

We participate in vision competitions because it is an opportunity to think about architecture beyond the routine limitations that we have in everyday work. It is chance to train creativity and to compete with professionals all over the world. Vision competitions make architects dream!

Architecture vision competitions are a way to test your architectural abilities and skills; a chance to be seen and judged by a professional jury and, in the case of success, an opportunity to share your ideas and architectural vision. For young architects it is also a great opportunity to widen your professional horizons and a chance to work completely independently. We had a great time while working on this competition and advise everybody to take their chance and to participate.
