Tokyo is one of the most vibrant and thriving cities in the world, and even though its location makes it susceptible to earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons, and rising sea levels, some of the greatest devastation being inflicted is from digital devices.
The negative impact of excessive screen time on mental health is well-documented, and Tokyo citizens often struggle with stress, anxiety, and depression as a result. Buildner’s Tokyo Urban Meditation Cabins competition is asking participants to design a prototype for a series of meditation cabins that could be placed at various spots around the city. The cabins would be a way for people to take a break from the stresses of daily life and take a moment to reconnect with themselves.
The Tokyo Urban Meditation Cabins competition is open to submissions until December 13, 2022, with winners of the 7,000 € prize fund to be announced on February 22, 2023. Visit architecturecompetitions.com/tokyocabins for more details.
