We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of our Honorable mention winners for our “Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room” competition – Bin Jia and Jiangyan Luo from China!

I just graduated with a master’s degree from the Oslo School of Architecture in Norway, and now I have started my own practice.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/individuals have been involved?

In my projects, I approach architectural assignments holistically. I want to find a balance between exploring something more linked to the context and trying to create absolute objects at the same time. I want to think about what great spaces could be and how we could create and build them as intuitively as possible.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

In a way, I think architecture is no different from literature, film, painting, sculpture, etc. It is a method for how I understand things and how I manifest personal experience into concrete results.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

To win projects.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?
