Buildner is pleased to announce the results of the Museum of Emotions / Edition #8 competition, which challenged participants to explore how architecture can create contrasting emotional experiences. As a silent competition, participants had to communicate their ideas without text, using space, light, material, movement, water and sequence to shape the visitor’s perception.
The 1st Prize and Student Award were awarded to Tal Ben Barak and Salma Bsul from Tel Aviv University, Israel, for a circular route connecting an open planted landscape with a darker, enclosed space through water. 2nd Prize went to Karim Hamed from Egypt, whose project connects an open rooftop with a dark space below through a large circular trampoline, allowing movement in one space to influence the experience of visitors in the other.
3rd Prize was awarded to Kim Sunbin and Jung Hwanseok from South Korea for a project that places a dining environment within a pastoral landscape, using the relationship between diners, food and grazing cattle to create its emotional contrast. Together, the winning projects demonstrate how architecture can shape emotional experiences through movement, atmosphere and the relationship between interior and exterior space.
