The Modular Architecture Essay Competition was run in tandem with the design competition of the same name, calling for critical analyses of modular architecture and how it can be used to revolutionise architectural design in both residential and commercial spaces.

The winning essay submissions looked at how modular architecture facilitates sustainable design and how it can offer versatile solutions and offer more versatile solutions within limited space.

Submissions were sent in from around the world, with all three selected winners set to be featured in an upcoming publication from ARCHHIVE BOOKs alongside winners from the corresponding design competition. First prize was awarded to Mario Kolkwitz from Finland, second prize to Blake Hageman from the United States, and third prize was awarded to Felix Yiu, a student from Princeton University in the US.
