We’d like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the winners of one of our Honorable mentions for the “Iceland Northern Lights Rooms” competition - Norbert Pánovits, Orsolya Méhes and Zsuzsanna Köninger-Péter from Hungary!

Team of Honourable mention from Hungary

All three of us are members of the Olla Architect Studio, based in Győr, Hungary. We work with three other colleagues (András Ruppert, László Simon, Zsófia Szigeti), who were co-designers in the competition process. We all studied at the same University, therefore we've been friends for a long time. When the office was founded a year ago, this former acquaintance greatly helped us to be able to work as a real team in our day-to-day work.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?

Because of the youth of the office we still haven’t got too many of finished projects to boast about. Our first projects were mainly designing condominiums, two of which are already under construction.

Currently the office's biggest challenge is the design of the National Theater in Győr, which was recently awarded to our firm with another architecture office.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

For us architecture is teamwork and continuous self-education. With the conscious involvement of new perspectives and fresh thoughts, we are trying to give contemporary and rational answers to emerging architectural questions and problems. We think it is the task of every architect in today's society.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

Because we are young and ambitious people (☺), we wanted to test ourselves at an international level as well. Dealing with such interesting topics has a very refreshing effect on the everyday-work and on our community as well.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

You have nothing to lose! You can get a lot of experience and creativity can be lived out without having any pressure on you.
