The Yoga House in the Bog competition has concluded with outstanding results. Talented designers from around the world showcased their creativity, submitting designs for a yoga house nestled within Latvia's picturesque bog, surrounded by lush forests and near the Baltic Sea Beach. The competition sought projects that foster a connection with nature and incorporate green building practices and iconic design. After a thorough evaluation by Buildner and an esteemed international jury, the winners were selected.
1st prize winners, Zakhar Zibrov and Diana Zibrova from Ukraine, presented 'Sat House,' a design that seamlessly integrates the yoga house into its natural environment using sustainable materials and symbolic geometry.
Przemo Metko and Marzena Radkiewicz-Metko from Poland secured the 2nd prize with their elegant and holistic project, emphasizing a strong connection to the surrounding forest. Evan Shaner from the United States earned the 3rd prize and Sustainability award for 'Haven,' a compact structure thoughtfully crafted with locally sourced felled timber.
The Student award was claimed by Pablo Navas Díaz and Carmen Povedano Olleros from Polytechnic University Of Madrid, Spain, for their innovative 'Pranayama' design, reimagining the traditional Latvian cottage using prefabricated cross-laminated timber elements. Finally, Avery Thorne and Matthew Beecroft from Canada, University Of Waterloo, were awarded the Client's Favorite prize for their inspiring project, 'Atkape,' which elegantly balances spirituality and nature.
