Buildner presents Underbridge #2, the 20th competition in its Affordable Housing Series, inviting architects, designers, and creative thinkers to explore the untapped potential of spaces beneath bridges. Found in cities around the world, these overlooked urban areas offer opportunities for innovative housing solutions that respond to growing population density while making use of existing infrastructure.
The competition challenges participants to develop visionary proposals that transform underbridge spaces into vibrant, livable environments. Participants are encouraged to select any bridge site globally and design adaptable housing concepts that respond to local conditions, accessibility, and surrounding urban context. Proposals should demonstrate how underutilized infrastructure spaces can be reimagined as functional residential environments that are scalable, sustainable, and capable of serving diverse urban communities.
The final registration deadline is September 17, 2026, and winners will be announced on November 24, 2026.
