Buildner is pleased to announce the results of the second annual Modular Home Design Challenge.
This competition tasked participants with submitting innovative design proposals for a modular home that can be constructed in any form in any location, further exploring small scale architecture and affordable housing concepts.
Han Kuo, an architectural designer from Taiwan, was awarded first prize for their project entitled Everything on Track. Based on a 2.5m square module with operable wheels, the structure is set on a track system that can be expanded in a variety of ways to accommodate users. The concept is both effortless and clear with a distinct architectural character.
Second prize and student award went to students Yutian Liu, Yuwanqing Liu, Meilun Zhang and Chao Tang from China. Their Sea Nomads project addressed climate change and rising sea levels with a self-sufficient self-cycling modular home.
Third prize went to Dana Liepinsh and Lorena del Moral Navero from Spain for their Guayarmina House proposal for a semi-mobile and prefabricated modular home which was dedicated to the people of La Palma, Canary Islands, who lost their homes in the recent volcanic eruption.
