Buildner, in collaboration with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, is pleased to announce the winners of the 10th edition of the MICROHOME architecture competition. This special edition invited designers worldwide to propose an off-grid, modular microhome of up to 25 m² for a young professional couple, emphasizing innovation, environmental responsiveness, and real-world feasibility. With a total prize fund of 100,000 €, the competition continues to serve as a global platform for advancing compact, sustainable living.

The jury awarded First Prize to Matthew W. Wilde and Aleksa Milojevic (USA) for Living on Groundwater, a hydro-positive microhome designed to support groundwater recharge in Punjab, India. Second Prize went to Alejandro De Jesús Vera Véliz (Chile) for a modular CLT microhome tailored for fast, resilient construction, and Third Prize to Maria Jose Morocho Rojas, Christian German Medina Romero, and Grace Catalina Gavilanes Palacios (Ecuador) for Sumak Wasi, an adaptable model addressing Ecuador’s varied climates and social needs.

The Kingspan Award recognized Josephine Clare Harris and Luke Cotsford John Austin (Australia) for transforming Sydney’s laneway garages into flexible urban microhomes, while the Hapi Homes Award went to Alessandro Ghidini (Italy) for Northern Domino, a modular system supporting Indigenous communities in rural Canada. Buildner congratulates all winners and invites the public to explore the full results, including honorable mentions and shortlisted projects, at https://architecturecompetitions.com/microhome10/
