5 key facts about this project
01
Constructed using locally sourced stone, enhancing integration with the surrounding landscape.
02
Extensive use of cross-laminated timber panels for structural efficiency and aesthetic appeal.
03
Charred wooden shingles applied for durability and fire resistance while maintaining a natural appearance.
04
The bent A-frame design maximizes natural light and provides expansive views of the valley.
05
Carefully crafted pathways promote a contemplative arrival experience before engaging in practice.
The Vale de Moses Yoga Studio is an architectural project designed to enhance the experience of yoga practice within a natural setting. Located within a landscape characterized by rolling hills and lush greenery, the studio integrates seamlessly into its environment, addressing both aesthetic and functional requirements of a wellness retreat. The design emphasizes transparency and connection with the outdoor scenery, allowing users to engage with nature during their practice sessions.

The studio's primary function serves as a space for yoga and meditation, accommodating both individual and group sessions. Its layout is organized around an open-plan concept, which promotes flexibility and adaptability for different activities, including workshops and community events. The design includes designated areas such as practice rooms, changing facilities, and a lounge, enhancing the overall user experience by offering spaces for rest and social interaction.

Natural materials play a vital role in the project's design philosophy. The use of local stone for structural components, wood for flooring and finishes, and large windows of glass facilitate abundant daylight while providing spectacular views of the surroundings. This choice of materials not only minimizes the environmental impact but also aligns with the retreat's wellness-oriented mission.

Sustainable Design Approach

The Vale de Moses Yoga Studio incorporates a sustainable design approach by utilizing environmentally friendly materials and technologies. Solar panels are integrated into the design to support the studio's energy needs, reflecting a commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The project employs a passive design strategy that maximizes natural ventilation and minimizes reliance on mechanical heating or cooling systems. This focus on sustainability distinguishes it from many conventional architectural solutions.

Unique Integration with Topography

The studio's positioning on the hillside illustrates a thoughtful response to the site’s topography. The architectural massing appears to flow with the natural contours of the land, enhancing the connection between the building and its environment. Additionally, the winding path that leads to the studio offers visitors an intentional transition from the surrounding landscape to the mindful space of the studio, reinforcing the project's commitment to fostering an immersive experience.

The Vale de Moses Yoga Studio exemplifies a refined architectural solution tailored for wellness practice, successfully combining function, sustainability, and aesthetic coherence. For those interested in exploring this project further, including architectural plans, sections, and diagrams, a detailed presentation is available that delves deeper into the innovative design and operational aspects of the studio.
