The Floating Visitor Pavilion, located in Kemeri National Park, offers an engaging entry point for visitors while connecting them to the natural environment. The design concept emphasizes a structure that fits seamlessly into its surroundings, providing a functional space for people to enjoy. With its thoughtful details, the pavilion highlights the park’s unique features and encourages interaction with nature.

Forested Columns

Prominent forested columns form a key aspect of the design. They rise above the landscape, capturing attention and providing support for the structure. These columns symbolize the local Black stork, creating a direct link to the wildlife found within the park. This visual aspect enhances the experience for visitors, allowing them to feel connected to the ecological context.

Pathway and Follies

The pavilion's layout places importance on movement, featuring a wooden deck pathway that guides visitors from the entrance to different areas, including the café, ticket booth, and gallery. The continuous flow fostered by the pathway encourages exploration of the space and the surrounding park. Distinct follies serve specific functions, enriching the visitor experience and promoting engagement with the environment.

Cloud-Like Net

A notable design element is the cloud-like net suspended above the columns. This feature provides a feeling of elevation while also emphasizing the connection between the structure and nature. The net invites visitors to interact with the space above, adding a playful dimension that enhances the overall experience of the pavilion.

Materiality and Light

The pavilion makes use of carefully selected materials, emphasizing wood for its structural components to align with sustainable practices. Large glass panes allow ample natural light into the space, creating a welcoming environment. This connection between materials and light enriches the atmosphere, fostering a strong link between the inside and the surrounding landscape.

The Floating Visitor Pavilion highlights its design through features like the elevated net and well-planned pathways, inviting visitors to have a direct experience with the natural elements of Kemeri National Park.
