The Boat House - Pavilosta Poet Huts is a collection of residential spaces designed for poets, situated alongside a scenic coastal area. The design embodies the journey of the poet, integrating themes of navigation and exploration into its structure. The cabins’ unusual shapes, resembling the hulls of sailing boats, bring a sense of movement and dynamic energy to the experience of living and working in these spaces.

Conceptual Framework

The foundational idea behind the huts visualizes the poet's creative journey as a voyage through thoughts and emotions. The architects aimed to create a departure from standard architectural forms, allowing the unique shapes to represent creativity’s fluid nature. These cabins not only function as homes but also as inspirational spaces where poetry and reflection can thrive.

Spatial Organization

Each hut features a careful layout that promotes both comfort and productivity. The arrangement of rooms accommodates various activities, fulfilling the practical needs of the poets. Thoughtfully designed spaces encourage quiet moments for contemplation as well as areas for active writing. The design serves to support the distinct lifestyles of its residents, fostering an environment that nurtures creativity.

Material Use

Concrete formwork is used in the construction to handle the structural requirements of the huts. This choice ensures a solid foundation while allowing for artistic expression through unique architectural forms. Concrete provides strength and durability, key aspects that help the huts retain their distinctive shapes over time while ensuring safety for their inhabitants.

Connection to Environment

The close proximity to a dock enhances the relationship between the cabins and the surrounding nature. This link to the sea enriches the experience of the huts, inviting interaction with the landscape. The design blends with its environment, allowing for a natural flow that can inspire poets as they engage with their surroundings.

The angled eaves are a notable feature, designed to direct rainwater away from the structure. This detail adds to the resilience of the huts while also contributing to the overall appearance of movement and fluidity that defines the project.
