The Euro Velo 6 project is an important infrastructure element along a cycling route that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. It provides a functional space for cyclists while engaging with the natural surroundings. The design concept focuses on the innovative use of walls, which serve to guide cyclists and influence their experience, encouraging them to explore the beauty of the landscape.

Design Concept

Walls are used as key elements that shape how cyclists perceive their environment. Instead of merely acting as barriers, these walls manipulate sightlines and direct attention. Their careful placement alters the views available to users, enhancing the sense of adventure along the cycling route. The design encourages cyclists to appreciate the shifting vistas, creating a dynamic connection between the rider and the landscape.

User Experience

Consideration for user amenities is evident along the route. Bicycle stands and resting areas are strategically placed to enhance accessibility and comfort. Each facility comes with clear signage and instructions, promoting shared responsibility among cyclists. This attention to detail supports a cooperative atmosphere where users can enjoy the space while maintaining it for others.

Sustainability Measures

Environmental sustainability is a vital aspect of the design. A rainwater reuse system supplies water for important facilities, including showers, toilets, and drinking fountains. This feature aims to reduce ecological impact while improving convenience for users. By integrating such measures, the design reinforces a respectful relationship with the natural environment.

Material Selection

The project employs COR-TEN steel, known for its durability and distinct appearance. Over time, this material develops a protective patina, enhancing its connection to the landscape. The choice of COR-TEN steel not only ensures longevity but also symbolizes the relationships formed along the Euro Velo 6 route.

The design of the walls, featuring varying heights and angles, creates an engaging visual experience that leads cyclists through diverse environments. Each turn offers new perspectives, inviting them to immerse themselves fully in the natural surroundings.
