Plexiglass Facades and Steel Framework Creating Dynamic Community Spaces

Project in-detail

Combining a steel framework with colorful Plexiglass facades, the design creates versatile community spaces that foster interaction and engagement on an urban rooftop.
5 key facts about this project
01
Utilizes a unique combination of steel and colorful Plexiglass to enhance light interaction.
02
Incorporates a flexible interior layout to support various community activities.
03
Features panoramic views that integrate natural scenery into the user experience.
04
Constructed with a focus on sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
05
Designed to maximize structural efficiency using geodesic principles.
This architectural design project revolves around a series of geodesic domes, which are notable for their geodesic structure, blending functionality with modern aesthetics. The project occupies a rooftop environment, taking advantage of panoramic views of the surrounding area, especially during sunsets. Each dome serves as a multi-purpose space, offering a venue for social gatherings, art exhibitions, workshops, and community events. The design emphasizes the integration of sustainable materials and smart construction practices.

The domes are constructed using a framework of steel, providing essential structural support, while wood is incorporated into the flooring to ensure warmth and comfort. Plexiglass, made from recycled materials, features prominently in the building skin, enhancing light penetration and creating visually engaging effects as natural light interacts with the various colors. This combination of materials contributes to the overall durability and functionality of the domes.

Unique Design Approaches and Features

This project distinguishes itself through its focus on geometric form and spatial arrangement. The use of hexagons and pentagons results in a weight-efficient structure that maximizes interior volume. The design effectively employs illumination as a key element, ensuring that the spaces within the domes adapt to various functions throughout the day. A variety of ambient lighting options can be utilized, allowing the domes to change aesthetic qualities during events, enhancing user experiences.

Sustainability is a core principle reflected in every aspect of the design. The careful selection of materials prioritizes recycled content, aiming to minimize environmental impact. This consideration not only supports architectural integrity but also cultivates an awareness of ecological responsibility among users and visitors alike.

Functional Versatility of the Domes

The architectural design of the domes accommodates a spectrum of activities, promoting community engagement. They act as flexible spaces that can be easily adapted for different purposes, from artistic endeavors to communal gatherings. This versatility contrasts with conventional brick-and-mortar structures, providing an innovative approach to urban space utilization.

The layout also enhances social interactions, encouraging users to engage in collective experiences rather than isolating them in defined areas. By creating inviting environments, the domes foster an atmosphere conducive to collaboration and creativity.
