Hydraulic Coffee Kiosk Featuring Porcelain Enamel Facade and Sliding Timber Bar

Project in-detail

A hydraulic support system facilitates the mobility of a sleek coffee kiosk clad in porcelain enamel panels and accented with warm timber, providing an efficient space for brewing and serving gelato in a compact setting.
5 key facts about this project
01
Hydraulic support system allows for easy mobility of the kiosk.
02
Porcelain enamel panels provide durability and low maintenance.
03
Sliding timber bar encourages customer interaction and engagement.
04
Large windows maximize natural light and enhance the connection to outdoor spaces.
05
Compact design optimizes workflow in a limited footprint.
The Big Tiny Coffee House: Kremm Coffee and Gelato serves as a model for compact architectural design focused on functionality and user experience. Located in Northern Europe, the project integrates a minimalist aesthetic with practical elements that cater to both baristas and customers. This structure exemplifies an efficient use of space while fostering community engagement, aiming to create an inviting atmosphere within a mobile framework.

Unique Design Approaches and Functional Aspects
The architecture of the coffee kiosk is defined by its compact form, which maximizes every square meter for operational efficiency. The design incorporates a series of strategic zones, including a consumable and non-consumable area for storage, a cleaning zone with optimal workflow placement, a preparation zone central to coffee brewing, and a counter area that enhances interaction between patrons and staff. This functional zoning reflects a thoughtful approach to the architecture of service spaces, ensuring smooth transitions between tasks.

The facade utilizes porcelain enamel panels, selected for their weather resistance and low maintenance. This choice not only contributes to longevity but also aligns with the project’s minimalist vision. The light-colored wood accents throughout foster a warm, welcoming feel, creating a contrasting texture that is both visually appealing and inviting. A unique design feature of the Kremm Coffee and Gelato is the sliding desk/bar, which serves dual purposes of preparation and customer interaction, allowing for dynamic use of space. This innovative element encourages engagement, enabling customers to express themselves through writing or drawing on a chalkboard surface while awaiting their orders.

Emphasis on Natural Light and Community Engagement
Designed with large windows, the kiosk enhances user experience by allowing ample natural light to penetrate the interior, vital in the context of Northern Europe’s climate, where daylight can be limited in the colder months. This architectural choice fosters a connection between the interior and exterior, encouraging outdoor interaction and a sense of community among patrons.

The project’s approach to mobility is another significant aspect. The hydraulic support system allows for movement and adaptability, promoting a mobile coffeehouse concept suitable for various settings. This flexibility aligns with contemporary trends in architecture that prioritize multifunctionality and responsiveness to changing contexts.
