Horse-Friendly Observation Tower Emphasizing Timber Cladding and Ecological Integration

Project in-detail

Emphasizing timber cladding and incorporating horse-friendly features, the observation tower offers a multi-level vantage point that fosters an engaging connection between visitors and the surrounding landscape.
5 key facts about this project
01
Emphasizes a dual-use design accommodating both humans and horses.
02
Constructed with a sustainable timber framework tailored to the local environment.
03
Features a panoramic observation area offering unique views across the landscape.
04
Incorporates a truss system that enhances structural stability with minimal material use.
05
Utilizes charred wooden shingles for enhanced durability and ecological integration.
The Kurgi Observation Tower is an architectural project designed to enhance the interaction between viewers and the surrounding landscape. Situated in a diverse environment of grassy plains and wooded areas, the tower serves as a vantage point for both human visitors and equestrians. It embodies an approach that respects and integrates with its natural ecology, creating a seamless blend of architecture and nature.

### Unique Design Approaches
This project stands out due to its adaptive use of geometric forms, specifically the square configuration that evolves into a more complex design as it rises. The structure prioritizes functionality while ensuring minimal environmental impact, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability. Central to its design is a truss system that supports multi-level observation areas, allowing multiple viewpoints across the landscape. This modular design not only provides structural stability but also enhances the user experience by facilitating fluid movement through various levels.

The inclusion of horse-friendly features is a key differentiator. Each ramp and landing is thoughtfully designed to accommodate both human and equine interaction, promoting an inclusive experience. This specific focus on mixed-use functionality is an innovative approach that distinguishes the Kurgi Observation Tower from conventional observation structures.

### Material Configuration and Structural Details
The materiality of the tower reflects its commitment to ecological sensitivity. Key materials employed include timber for cladding and structural supports, concrete for foundations and flooring, and steel trusses that maintain the integrity of the design. The transparency provided by glass elements invites natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting and further integrating the structure with its environment.

Structural components include elegantly designed catwalks, secure landings, and a robust foundation, all of which contribute to the project's durability and usability. Each element serves a dual purpose of maintaining structural integrity while enhancing user experience.

This architectural project not only serves as an observation point but also embodies a philosophy of coexistence with nature. The Kurgi Observation Tower invites users to engage deeply with their environment, making ecological sensitivity a core tenet of its design.
