The Bike-thru is a dedicated rest stop designed for cyclists along the Euro Velo Route 6 cycle path network. It focuses on functionality and the connection to the natural environment, adapting the familiar concept of a 'drive-through' for outdoor enthusiasts. The design emphasizes convenience and comfort while promoting social interactions in a landscape that encourages exploration.

Framed View Area

Upon arrival, cyclists find a framed view area. This space allows them to park their bikes and enjoy unhindered views of the surrounding landscape. The design invites users to engage with nature through sound and smell, reinforcing the experience of being outdoors. Additionally, facilities for bike repairs are available in this area, enhancing practical support for cyclists.

Social Cabin

The social cabin serves as the heart of the Bike-thru, equipped with a pantry and repair kits to meet the needs of visitors. A skylight introduces natural light into the space, creating a welcoming environment. The interior has a flexible layout that can accommodate different groups, encouraging community interaction among cyclists. This area connects to outdoor cascading steps that lead to a campfire seating zone, fostering social gatherings in a comfortable outdoor setting.

Wash Cabin

The wash cabin adds necessary amenities, featuring toilet and shower facilities for cyclists on longer journeys. This practical addition addresses hygiene and comfort, ensuring users can refresh themselves during their stop. It plays a vital role in enhancing the overall experience for those traveling along the route.

Sleeping Pods

For cyclists needing overnight accommodation, the design includes sleeping pods positioned against a polycarbonate feature wall. This setup allows light to flow in while creating a tranquil space for rest. The arrangement emphasizes comfort and safety, contributing to a complete experience for overnight guests.

The carefully designed campfire seating area provides an inviting spot for users to gather, encouraging them to share stories and enjoy the surroundings together.
