5 key facts about this project
Green Rhythm Retreat is located in Iceland and offers an immersive experience focused on the country’s unique landscape and natural phenomena. The design highlights elements inspired by volcanic formations and the Northern Lights, creating an environment that connects visitors with nature while prioritizing sustainability.
Modules
The retreat features a series of cone-shaped modules that mirror the appearance of volcanic structures. Each module has a minimalistic design aimed at enhancing the connection to the surrounding environment. Transparent lightweight polycarbonate makes up the walls and panoramic windows, providing clear views of the Icelandic scenery. This choice allows ample natural light to enter, emphasizing the beauty of the landscape outside.
Rooftop Design
One noteworthy aspect of the design is the foldable rooftop, which offers guests the chance to open up the space and view the sky directly. This feature allows for stargazing and enjoying the Northern Lights from within the modules. The rooftop also incorporates photovoltaic panels, which contribute to the sustainability of the retreat by harnessing solar energy.
Leisure Spaces
In addition to the guest accommodations, the retreat includes a leisure module that functions as both a restaurant and wellness area. This circular building encourages interaction among guests while providing amenities such as showers and a sauna. The combination of relaxation and wellness spaces complements the outdoor activities available, creating a balanced experience for visitors.
Equine Integration
An interesting element of the retreat is the circular shed designed for ten Icelandic horses. This feature allows guests to engage with local wildlife in a direct way, adding another layer to the experience. The presence of the horses enhances the connection to the natural surroundings and local culture.
The attention to detail in the design facilitates a deep engagement with the Icelandic landscape. Visitors can immerse themselves fully in the serene environment offered by the retreat, experiencing both comfort and a meaningful connection to nature.
