Elliptical Roof and Concrete Steps Create Engaging Wine Tasting Space Surrounded by Scenic Vineyard Views

Project in-detail

The elliptical roof and concrete steps form a distinctive architectural presence that blends seamlessly into the landscape, creating a space designed for communal wine tasting experiences.
5 key facts about this project
01
The building features an elliptical roof that mimics the curvature of a wine glass.
02
Concrete steps serve dual purposes as seating and structural connections to the landscape.
03
The design employs large glass windows, maximizing natural light and vineyard views.
04
Sunk positioning enhances thermal efficiency by leveraging the earth's natural insulation.
05
Circular configuration promotes social interaction and seamless movement throughout the space.
The “Dancing Circles” architectural project is situated in the scenic area of Monte D’Oiro, designed to harmonize with the natural landscape while promoting social interaction around wine culture. It utilizes a single-story configuration with a unique circular footprint that fosters a communal environment for wine tasting experiences. The softly defined spaces within the structure create distinct areas that encourage visitors to engage with both their surroundings and each other.

The architectural design embodies the metaphor of movement, taking inspiration from the act of pouring wine. This concept is expressed in the structure's elliptical roof, which mimics the shape of a wine glass and facilitates an immersive experience. By blending the building into the hillside, the design creates a seamless connection with the vineyard, allowing panoramic views and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

Unique Circular Design Elements

The circular shape of the structure is a defining characteristic of the project. It allows for unrestricted flow and movement, reflecting the element of dancing which symbolizes celebration and unity. This design approach encourages inclusivity, as visitors naturally gravitate towards communal spaces throughout the building. Moreover, the entrance features a series of steps designed to act as informal seating areas, giving a platform for relaxed gatherings while drawing connections to the earth.

Extensive Use of Sustainable Materials

The project emphasizes the use of durable and sustainable materials, including concrete, glass, iron bars, and waterproof paint. These materials not only ensure structural integrity but also promote energy efficiency. The incorporation of large glass windows enhances natural light penetration, creating a warm atmosphere while allowing unobstructed views of the vineyard landscape. The use of concrete provides thermal stability, which minimizes energy consumption and allows the building to maintain comfortable internal temperatures throughout the seasons.

The Horizon View and Engagement

Another noteworthy aspect of the “Dancing Circles” is its strategic orientation towards the vineyard. The building is sunk into the ground, which not only complements the topography but also enhances the visitor experience through remarkable horizon views. The entry space is designed to facilitate effortless transitions between indoor and outdoor environments, fostering a sense of continuity and connection with nature. This thoughtful approach to design establishes an effective user experience, allowing visitors to partake in a holistic engagement with their surroundings.

For further details on the design specifics and architectural implementation, readers are encouraged to review the architectural plans, sections, and ideas associated with the project. Exploring these elements will provide deeper insights into the innovative aspects of the “Dancing Circles.”
