5 key facts about this project
The design focuses on addressing the challenges of high-density living in Hong Kong, a city home to 7.39 million people within a limited land area of 1,102 km². The concept aims to create community residences that combine private living spaces with shared amenities. This integration encourages meaningful interactions among residents while ensuring individual privacy. The proposal acknowledges the isolation often found in the city’s numerous high-rise buildings and seeks to create a more connected urban experience.
Residential Units
Three distinct types of housing units cater to various demographics: singles, couples, and families. The first unit is designed for single occupants and emphasizes space efficiency through a compact layout. The second unit serves couples, providing an extra flexible area to adjust to different needs. Family-oriented units offer multiple bedrooms and communal living areas, creating an environment where each group can find a suitable living solution.
Community and Shared Spaces
The layout combines residential, shared, and community spaces to promote social interaction among residents. Common areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor terraces are thoughtfully arranged to encourage neighborly connections while still allowing for personal privacy. This design promotes a sense of community, enabling residents to engage with one another naturally in a welcoming environment.
Amenities
A variety of amenities enhance the overall living experience. Facilities such as a gym, media plaza, pet playground, library, kids café, BBQ areas, and urban farming opportunities are included, each contributing to a lively community atmosphere. These amenities serve practical functions but also encourage residents to participate in recreational and social activities without leaving their living environment.
Adaptable Design
The adaptable nature of the design allows for changes in the residential blocks according to the evolving needs of residents. The option to add terraces within individual units reflects personal preferences and improves the overall living experience. This flexibility is essential in maximizing the limited space typical of Hong Kong, demonstrating a thoughtful understanding of urban living challenges.
Each housing unit features outdoor terraces that connect private relaxation spaces to the shared community, ensuring that residents can find personal moments of peace while remaining engaged with their neighbors.
