Charred Wooden Shingles and Stonework Define a Connected Community Living Space

Project in-detail

Constructed with charred wooden shingles and local stone, the design fosters community connection while providing a range of inviting communal and private living spaces.
5 key facts about this project
01
Constructed with locally sourced stone to minimize environmental impact.
02
Charred wooden shingles provide aesthetic appeal and enhance weather resistance.
03
Open floor plans facilitate flexibility in community and private spaces.
04
Extensive glazing maximizes natural light and views of the surrounding landscape.
05
Community pathways connect individual residences, promoting social interaction.
This architectural project presents a cohesive residential design, integrating a main building with a series of cottages. Set within a naturally rich landscape, the design emphasizes functionality, community interaction, and a harmonious relationship with the surrounding environment.

The main building functions as the heart of the project, where social gatherings and daily activities converge. It features an open floor plan that facilitates movement while maintaining distinct living areas. Large windows provide ample natural light and views of the landscape, contributing to a sense of connection with the outdoors. The material palette includes stone, wood, and stucco, chosen for their aesthetic and functional qualities, providing durability and warmth to the structure.

The cottages, positioned nearby, serve as personal living spaces that enhance the communal atmosphere. Each cottage is designed with similar architectural elements but offers privacy and comfort. The use of local materials fosters a sense of place, ensuring the buildings resonate with their geographic context.

Integration of Outdoor Spaces
The project incorporates outdoor spaces that enhance recreational and social activities among residents. A landscaped pond serves as a focal point, promoting relaxation and a connection to nature. Paths linking the buildings encourage walkability and social interaction while preserving individual privacy. This strategic arrangement highlights the design’s focus on community cohesion while respecting personal space.

Sustainable Design Approaches
The architectural design reflects a commitment to sustainability through the careful selection of materials and layout. Natural light is maximized through extensive glazing, reducing energy consumption. The choice of locally sourced materials minimizes transportation impacts and supports environmental sustainability. The architectural plans consider the climatic conditions, ensuring that buildings are resilient and perform optimally throughout the year.

The project represents a thoughtful architectural response to its setting, balancing community engagement with individual needs.
