The architectural project “Over the Horizon” is an innovative design situated along the Venta River. Encompassing a blend of traveler accommodations, communal spaces, and nature-integrated landscapes, this project emphasizes connectivity, sustainability, and community engagement. The core intention is to create an environment that fosters interaction among visitors while providing a comfortable retreat that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.

The design features multiple key components, each serving distinct functions while contributing to the overall project narrative. These include traveler cabins, a communal fireplace structure, a dining area, and a sauna. Each element is meticulously crafted to address the needs of users while respecting the site’s ecological context.

Unique Design Approaches

The architectural approach of “Over the Horizon” is marked by its emphasis on communal interaction. Unlike traditional lodging facilities, the design incorporates public gathering spaces that encourage socialization and shared experiences. For instance, the central fireplace structure serves as a focal point for storytelling and communal activities, creating an inclusive atmosphere for guests.

In addition, the cabins are strategically situated to provide scenic views of the river and surrounding landscapes. Large windows enhance natural light flow, allowing occupants to connect visually with nature while reinforcing the concept of indoor-outdoor living. The choice of local timber for the cabins reflects a commitment to sustainability and acknowledges the cultural fabric of the region.

Sustainability and Material Selection

“Over the Horizon” prioritizes sustainability through thoughtful material choices and energy-efficient design. The primary materials include locally sourced timber, steel for structural support, and concrete for foundational elements. This combination not only ensures durability but also minimizes environmental impact, creating a project that is environmentally conscious.

Additionally, the layout incorporates natural ventilation and insulation techniques to enhance energy efficiency. The architectural design integrates seamlessly with the landscape, facilitating a dialogue with the environment that enhances the user experience.
