The Kremm Carts project offers a modern solution to urban commuting, set against the backdrop of busy city streets and public squares. These carts are designed to improve the daily experience for city residents, serving as mobile hubs for interaction and convenience. The project centers on enhancing everyday activities while merging functionality with an appealing design.

Design Integration
The Kremm Carts are designed to fit into urban environments without being intrusive. Their clean lines and minimal form allow them to blend into various architectural styles. Rather than standing out, they offer a subtle presence that invites engagement from passersby and enriches the surrounding area.

Material Choices
The selection of materials reflects a focus on durability and practical appeal. Brushed copper has been chosen for its resistance to wear and corrosion, providing a contemporary finish. The signature terrazzo adds visual interest, enhancing both the look and function of the surfaces. Graffiti-resistant paint completes the design, helping the carts maintain their appearance despite urban challenges.

User-Centric Design
The arrangement inside the Kremm Carts prioritizes user needs, with a layout that includes clean water stations and accessible work areas. This setup allows for straightforward use, catering to the demands of people on the go. The thoughtful design encourages positive interactions and addresses the daily routines of urban inhabitants.

A distinctive feature of the Kremm Carts is their exterior, where a balance of materials and forms creates surfaces that invite touch and engagement, fostering a sense of community in the urban landscape.

Competition organisers

The MICROHOME 10 competition invites participants to submit visionary designs for off-grid, modular microhomes that push the limits of sustainable, small-scale living. Organised by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, this tenth edition sets the challenge of designing a dwelling for two people within a maximum floor area of 25 m², encouraging bold solutions adaptable to any urban or rural location. The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025.
