Buildner is pleased to announce the results of the second edition of The Architect’s Stair competition, an ideas challenge inviting architects and designers to explore the stair as a pure expression of architectural language—free from constraints of function, material, or scale. Participants were encouraged to reinterpret this timeless architectural element as a sculptural, conceptual, or emotional experience, redefining how movement and space interact.
The 1st Prize and Student Award went to Seulmir Yu, Geonhee Park, and Donghyeon Lee (Australia / University of Auckland) for Playstair, a playful, reconfigurable structure that turns circulation into creativity and interaction. The 2nd Prize was awarded to Abhishek Blesson Manuel A and Emma Schwarz (India / University of Applied Arts Vienna) for Lamarr, a continuous coiling ramp that transforms movement into a civic experience. The 3rd Prize went to Wen Zhang (Netherlands) for Up Set Down, a bold adaptive reuse of Rotterdam’s Laurenskerk Tower reimagined as a descending vertical gallery. Congratulations to all winners and honorable mentions—see the full results on https://architecturecompetitions.com/architectsstair2/
