The Buildner Unbuilt Award 2024 proudly marks the launch of an exciting new annual competition celebrating the creativity and innovation of unbuilt architectural projects. With submissions spanning small, medium, and large-scale categories, this international competition offered architects and designers a unique platform to showcase their visionary designs. From conceptual ideas to fully developed projects, Buildner celebrates unbuilt works as catalysts for advancing architectural discourse and shaping the future of our built environment. The results are now in, and Buildner is delighted to reveal the winners of this inaugural competition.


The Small Scale Category was awarded to Javier Andrés Bascunan Morales (Chile) for Loa’s Black Line, a contemplative spatial intervention in Chile’s Atacama Desert. In the Medium Scale Category, Aljoša Dekleva (Slovenia) won with The Pavilion of Slovenia, a zero-waste, sustainable design symbolizing Slovenia’s environmental commitment. For the Large Scale Category, James Charles Mak (United Kingdom) claimed the top spot with Eden 2.0, a 3.4-hectare ecological conservatory in South Korea that fosters human-nature interaction while addressing climate challenges.

The competition featured an international jury of distinguished experts, including renowned architects, academic leaders, and editors-in-chief.
